#6 - Julie Upmeyer

I found Julie Upmeyers' talk really inspiring, and found her honesty about the struggles of being an artist refreshing. My favourite aspect was her talking about her website, the way that she re-framed it away from what websites are traditionally seen as, with sections for unfinished and unsuccesful works alongside her best pieces. Her use of it as a dynamic space inspired me to reformulate my own website in a way that better suits my way of thinking about my work. Her speaking of defining your practice into sections reminded me of my own struggle while compiling my portfolio. The mapping of her current work inspired me to try to map my works, which I at first decided would be a spider web configuration , but have since settled on a blobby venn diagram.
