#5 - Microsoft Teams & Wordpress

Whilst I considered myself to be digitally literate, I learnt about features of Teams that I had not previously known about that I will be utilising in the future. My group and I decided against using Teams as a tool to communicate as we had already created a groupchat that we were comfortable using and able to share our progress through.

Learning about Wordpress was very interesting, and I did end up trying it out, however I believe I am too used to this site and find it easier to navigate. (in answer to my own question -"does Wix have a blog option?"- yes, past self, it does!) During this lecture I made a note to myself about accessibility, and I will be ensuring that this site is using dyslexia friendly fonts, a friendly colour scheme and that all images have alt-text.

#4 - Group Meeting

In our first group meeting we explored the product that we wanted to advertise and how we would do so. I really enjoyed this meeting, as everyone there had amazing ideas and we all worked really well together in creating a plan for going forward.

The Product- Research

As an Applied Artist, I decided to research bag that hold tools. During this research, the attributes needed for a bag of its kind became evident; strength, storage space and ease of use. Competitors have achieved this through the use of wheels, strengthened seams, and extra pockets. Very early onto my research for this product, I realised I wanted to take my design into a 'nonsense' direction, viewing the task in a more abstracted way. A bag that ... isn't really a bag.

The Product- Design & Storyboard

At this point of the process, I decided to completely lean into the wierdness of my idea, and spoke to the rest of my group about whether they were alright with this idea. Luckily, they enjoyed the wierd and peculiar idea, and we coordinated our bag concepts so as to create a more cohesive final video once our sections are merged.

#3 - Employability Lecture

Reflection: I thought that this presentation was useful to name the attributes that are useful for employability. Many of these I had not realised I possessed of that they would be useful in my future career.

Personal Reflection of Employability Attributes:

• Engaged- I attend lectures and work hard to do everything that is asked of me.

• Creative- I am constantly making things and using my creativity to problem solve.

• Enterprizing- I co-run a small business and am constantly looking for new creative oppurtunities.

• Ethical- I am kind and moral and have a small carbon footprint and re-use, recycle and upcycle things in my art and my life.

• Commitment- I give 100% in all my endeavours as i believe there is no point in doing something unless you are going to do it properly

• Curiosity- I am constantly looking for new ideas and learning new things both within my areas of study and in the maths and science world.

• Resilience- when issues arise, I step back and find the solution and carry on.

• Confidence- I have confidence in my ability, my work, my work ethic, and i am confident in my ability to meet deadlines and expectations.

• Adaptability- I am open to plans changing and problems arisingand factor that into my working process. I am flexible and can adapt to any eventuality.

• Digital Fluency- I have a broad knowledge of the digital world and software and am constantly expanding my knowledge as I develop and grow my digital presence.

• Organisation- I work by lists and systems that I have developed during my life. This means I am always organised and able to balance my time efficiently.

• Leadership & Teamwork- Whilst I do not seek to be a leader, when the need arises I am able to find strengths in others and organise tasks, timelines and adapt to circumstances.

• Critical Thinking- I am an analytical person and I am able to look at both the big picture and the smaller details in order to draw my own conclusions.

• Emotional Intelligence- I am always aware of the impact and consequences that words and actions can have, and so I act in a manner that only inspires positivity by having kindness, compassion and understanding

• Communication- I am able to communicate my thoughts, ideas and opinions in a range of manners and media and including verbal, written and creatively.
